IMSU Students vow to resist Hope Uzodinma’s alleged imposition of SUG candidate

by Efizzy

There may be breakdown of law and order in the state, with information coming from Imo State University, following the controversy surrounding the Students Union Election.

This, coupled with the current security crisis engulfing the state, may further heighten the level of insecurity in the state.

Report emerged recently, of an alleged tape, of an aide to Senator Hope Uzodinma, allegedly boasting about influencing the outcome of the IMSU SUG elections, imposing a candidate of his choice on the student body, against the choice of the students.

Our correspondent, Mercy Anaele, who visited the Imo State University, and interacted with students on ground, over the development, discovered that there was dissatisfaction amongst the students, against the state government, as they vowed to withdraw whatever support they have for the Hope Uzodinma administration, if their choice of candidates, were denied them.

Reacting on his Facebook page, Ebube Mbah slammed the Hope Uzodinma administration, for paying more interest in the SUG Elections, rather than the current security crisis in the state.

His reaction reads as follows:

Uzodinma and his Aides have reduced Governance in Imo to an elementary affair.

The leaked call conversation trending today speaks volume about how low they have reduced our government institutions.

It is unimaginable that of all the issues in the state, Uzodinma and his aides are more concerned about Students Union election of Imo State University, going to the extent of disqualifying candidates for fear of being sponsored by opposition (an unfounded lie). The SSA to Uzodinma, Oparaji Franklyn who did that hatchet job also boasted that not even the Vice Chancellor of the University has the powers to upturn their decision.

Governance has been reduced so grossly.
This is Sad!

May Imo Prevail!

The state government have yet to react to the alleged leaked tape.

Government interference in students activities, isn’t new in Imo State. Former governor, Achike Udenwa tried to impose a candidate of his choice on the students, as against their choice, Emerole popularly called Aristotle, and it resulted in total breakdown of law and order in the state, with lives lost in the process.

Udenwa slammed a ban on Students Union activities for the remainder of his stay as govenror.

Former govenrors Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha, did not impose candidates on the students, even though they paid attention to the activities of the students through their aides.
