Following the recent attack on his country home, and rising cases of in his state, the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma have cancelled his earlier scheduled plans to return to the state from Abuja.
Uzodinma who left the state for Abuja on undisclosed reasons, had to cancel his return to the state, and has been governing the state from Abuja.
The gunmen who attacked his country home, had attempted to burn down.tje building, but only succeeded in destroying his Rolls Royce car, a bus parked inside the compound, and the security house before, according to government sources, they were repelled by security operatives stationed within the compound.
The action of the gunmen, to attack the home of a sitting governor, has sent chills across the country, exposing the glaring level of insecurity in the country.
Recall that gunmen had attacked the Federal Correctional Facility in Owerri, the capital of the state. The facility is located just beside the Government House, where Uzodinma and his family resides.
Sources claim Uzodinma and his family, had relocated from Government House since the attack, which had gone on for hours without anybody challenging the attackers.
PUNCH correspondent in Imo State, Mr. Chidiebube Okeoma confirmed Uzodinma’s cancellation of his plans to return to Imo via a post on his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB, has vowed to deal with Uzodinma, following the killing of one of their commanders, during a raid by a joint security taskforce.
Spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful in release, accused Uzodinma of masterminding the attack which led to the death of the commander, and promised to deal with Uzodinma and everybody involved in the attack.
