Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has revealed that he is ready to face any political persecution, when he steps down in 2023.
Wike was speaking to reporters during the child dedication ceremony, of Uche Nwosu’s son in Abuja.
Wike revealed that he was aware, that some political forces will come after him because of his views.
Wike further revealed that he had already moved out of his official residence, which was part of his preparation for what would come after he steps down.
Wike, who had become an ally of former Imo governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, stated that Okorocha’s was a victim of political persecution, fingering the political battle between Okorocha and his successor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the reason behind his recent problems, which included his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Wike stated that olitical prosecution would always come, especially one leaves office, but assured that he was fully ready to face it.
With Okorocha’s recent problems within the All Progressives Congress APC, especially in Imo State, where he is in a heated battle over the control of the party in the state with Uzodinma, his closeness to Nyesom Wike, and some recent comments credited to him, have sparked speculations, that he might be dumping the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, before the 2023 General Elections.
