Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba: Walking the Talk in Effective Representation

Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba, the Federal House of Representatives member representing Mbaitoli and Ikeduru Federal Constituency, is one of the 10 Federal Representatives from Imo State, but despite being in the opposition, has remained steadfast in his fight to ensure his people are carried along in the scheme of things in the National 0Assembly. 

Despite being of the opposite Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Nwawuba have achieved more developmental strides for his people of MBAIKE, than even many in the ruling party.

On Friday the 17th of April 2021, Nwawuba was at Ofekata in Mbaitoli LGA, to flag off the first phase of road construction from Umeze junction, down to Nkwo Orodo, which would continue to Orlu road.

This is one of many projects Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba, have attracted to the people, toe ensure MBAIKE is not left out in benefiting dividends of effective representation. 

The road, which was being carried out by FERMA, was not initially slated for Ofekata, but Nwawuba had put pressure to ensure the Ofekata road, which was in urgent need for reconstruction, was captured in the project. 

Engr. Chukwuemeka Maduagwu the FERMA Imo State comptroller of Works/Resident Engineer, who accompanied Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba to the flagging off and inspection, assured that people that his agency would complete the road as quickly as possible, to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

The project supervising Engineer Engr. Solomon Eluma, assured of qualify job on the road.

Nwawuba in his campaign slogan to MBAIKE people, had assured his people to Expect More, and despite being in the opposition, Nwawuba have been walking the talking in attracting projects to MBAIKE. 

Speaking to MaaziTV correspondent, Nwawuba assured that what he had done so far was just a tip of what MBAIKE people are going to be seeing from him, as he had vowed to ensure that his people are never shortchanged in projects and other benefits that comes from the Federal Government. 

“Within a week or two,” he said. “We’ll be receiving tractors for our people, to help promote mechanized farming in MBAIKE and help develop our Federal Constituency. I made a promise to serve my people selflessly and diligently, and it is a promise I must uphold. 

“Nde MBAIKE are assured of much more than what they are seeing today.”

Mr. Isidore Chukwuemeka, a Senior Special Assistant to Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba, furnished MaaziTV with a rundown of some of the projects carried out by the Federal Representative, backing them up with pictorial evidence. 

The people welcomed the development and reaffirmed their support for Nwawuba. 

“He has been doing very well for us,” a resident told MaaziTV. “He gave us transformer that have helped our people solve our electricity problems, which we have been suffering since. He provided borehole for us and that project addressed out problem of water supply. Now he is bring road for us. Nobody have paid attention to this road till now and we are grateful that Nwawuba took the bull by the horn on this matter, to ensure that this road is reconstructed.”

Another youth leader in the area was full of praises for Nwawuba, “This is what we want, projects. Nwawuba have been showering us with project after project. He addressed our electricity situation by giving us a transformer and energizing it. He solved our water problem. Now he is solving our road problem. He rebuilt our school and even our market. Aside from building house for us, Nwawuba have addressed those basic needs of the people which they look up to their representatives for. We have never had it this good. We don’t want money. We want projects. Nwawuba don’t give me money, keep giving me and my people projects.”

Nwawuba had provided food and relief material to MBAIKE people, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing them with bags of rice, beans, grain, gallons of oil, foams, cement amongst others to help alleviate their pains.

“It’s my job to find out where those things are and make sure I bring it for our people.

(A) EMPLOYMENT/HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT.

(1) Securing Employment opportunities for two MBAIKE Youths at FUTO n POLYNEKEDE, Respectively.

(2) Facilitated the recruitment of 15 MBAIKE Youths as NAVAL Officers, 3 Airforce, 1 Civil Defense, 1 Police.

(3) Facilitated the Employment of 4 MBAIKE Youths as Npower monitors.

(4) Facilitated the Employment of 1 MBAIKE Youth in the Federal Ministry of Environment.

(5) Facilitated the Employment of 1 MBAIKE Youth into the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, (NSITF).

(6) Facilitated the Employment of two MBAIKE Youths as Resident Doctor at FMC, Owerri, and University of Calabar Teaching hospital, Respectively.

(7) Facilitated the Employment of 1 MBAIKE Youth into FRSC.

(B) EDUCATION.

(1) Establishing and Award of Scholarship to selected MBAIKE undergraduates in various higher institutions in Nigeria.

(2) Facilitated the admission of MBAIKE Youths into various higher institutions across the country.

(3) Establishment and funding of Extra mural classes for Secondary School Students across MBAIKE.

(4) Procurement and distribution of books and other Teaching Materials to both Secondary and Primary Schools in MBAIKE.

(5) Procurement and distribution of Science kits to selected Secondary schools in MBAIKE.

(6) Training and donation of science equipments to Science Teachers from selected from 15 Secondary schools in MBAIKE.

(7) Sponsoring of inter-house sports competitions in both Primary and Secondary schools across MBAIKE.

(C) TRAINING/ EMPOWERMENT.

(1) Disbursement of #10,000,000 Business Start up capital to MBAIKE women.

(2) Training of 10 MBAIKE Youths in Agro business at Nigeria Research Institute, Umudike, Abia State.

(3) Training of 63 MBAIKE Youths as Community Environmental monitors.

(4) Procurement and distribution of 60 Sewing machines to MBAIKE Women.

(5) Procurement and distribution of 20 grinding machines to MBAIKE Women.

(6) Procurement and distribution of 10 Hair dressing machines to MBAIKE Women.

(7) Training and Empowerment of 20 MBAIKE Youths in Agro business at Oyo State Polytechnic, Ibadan.

(8) Training and Empowerment of 20 Ikeduru Youths on Agro business at Delta State Polytechnic, Asaba.

(9) Procurement and distribution of 40 Motorcycles to ease Transportation problem across MBAIKE.

(10) Training of MBAIKE women as advocates of Anti domestic violence campaigners.
