There have yet been no official and clear reason, why the All Progressives Congress APC lawmakers in the Imo State House of Assembly, decided to give their former Majority Leader, Uche Ogbuagu, the boot.
Many reasons have been postulated, with popular social writer and political analyst in Imo State, Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, accusing Uche Ogbuagu, and another lawmaker, Kennedy Ibeh, in connivance with Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of YPP, of hatching a plot to carry out a Palace coup in the Imo State House of Assembly.
Yesterday, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu, the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, issued a Press Release, denying a media report about an alleged meeting, between Uche Ogbuagu and the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, in London.
Ihedioha denied leaving the country, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, but the Release did not categorically deny the existence of a meeting in Nigeria.
Some other claims had appeared on the social media, alleging that such meeting did take place, but it was in Abuja.
With all these accusations and counter accusations surrounding the removal of Uche Ogbuagu, there are indications, that Uche Ogbuagu’s removal might be connected to these allegations of a plot to unseat Senator Hope Uzodinma, through the legislative arm of government, which is the only other arm of government that can kick out a govenror.
Hope Uzodinma is already in court, to prove that he is the authentic candidate of the APC, as against a ruling of the Supreme Court, that declared Uche Nwosu the candidate of the party in the 2019 General elections.
If these allegations against Uche Ogbuagu is anything to go by, the clearly, those after Uzodinma may still be exploring every and all option, to make sure the Omuma born politician, does not remain in office till 2023.
