The Rochas Property Gate: The Dilemma And Nemesis

A FEDERAL HIGH COURT ABUJA SUIT FOR INTERIM INJUNCTION/ STAY OF EXECUTION BY ROCHAS OKOROCHA THROWN OUT

Stanford Arinze Nwokedi

“No matter the position you find yourself, what matters is the legacy you leave behind. If you leave a good legacy, posterity will be fair to you but if the legacy you leave behind portrays criminal content, posterity will also judge you accordingly….”Dr. Fabian Ihekweme

The intelligible quotation above threw me into a literary trance. I was deeply stretched in the meditation of the deep applicable resonances vis-a-vis the ROCHAS PROPERTY GATE even as the expected ding-dong legal gymnastics at Abuja today gave Imolites so much reasons to jubilate over the recovery of Imo State properties illegally converted by the erstwhile Governor, now Senator, Rochas Okorocha. Melancholy set in when I wondered wildly about the number of Governors, both military and civilians, who had before 2011 been at the helms of affairs here in Imo State. Yes, I was sad, deeply sad and utterly disappointed, that between 2011 and 2019, Imo lost almost all she had as assets. YES! LOST TO ONE MAN and to members of his biological and political families.

What if others, I mean, Rochas Okorocha’s predecessors had behaved like him. Wouldn’t Imo State had been an ex-Governors empire long before 2011?

But thank God for Governor Hope Uzodinma and his Government’s 3R Mantra. The good news is that all stolen State assets are being recovered now! The Ọfọ na Ogu in the conquest remains that prior to the coming of Rochas OKOROCHA, these recovered assets were incontrovertibly Imo assets!

For so long a time to come, the positive implications of the audacious 3R mantra of the Shared Prosperity Government of Imo State under the visionary and revolutionary leadership of H/E Dist Senator Hope Uzodinma will linger. Posterity shall be grateful to Gov Hope Uzodinma. To God be all the glory.

Politics aside, true Imolites see the 3R mantra as a divinely envisioned unction suitable to reinvent Imo. It is so because Imo State almost certainly would have become a State wherein its citizens (Imolites) would have lost all their patrimony to a single individual leader’s greed, graft, avariciousness and such other similar sinister vices. The implicit and explicit consequences of such would have been that a teeming 50 million Imolites or more would have been rendered Stateless, by effects and slaves, by the consequences of the mindless grandstanding, impunity, looting and landgrabbing as witnessed between 2011 and 2019.

Reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery are the tripod stands on which the unprecedented feats of infrastructural upgrade and monumental recoveries of stolen, looted and illegally converted State/private assets and properties are being seamlessly achieved.

Imo State owes the Governor of this State, Dist Senator Hope Uzodinma a whole lot of gratitude and appreciation for his determined political will, legally guided maturity and unwavering focus to ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done. No wonder, 99.99% of Imolites are strongly supportive and ready to go up in arms to ensure the recovery of Imo patrimony, wholely and entirely.

On 9th August, 2021, the final forfeiture verdict of the Justice Fred Njamanze presented, post-judice, the bitch called NEMESIS and the beast known as DILEMMA jointly as visitors to the erstwhile emperor, sorry, Governor, who had lost back to Imolites all the State assets captured in pages 226 – 272 of the gazetted White Paper. The gazetted White Paper followed a judicial panel of enquiry set up to look into illegal acquisition of public and private lands/properties.

Will Dist Senator Rochas Okorocha now show penitence? Will the embattled ex-Governor still publicly boast to be richer than the State he served for 8years?
Does he now truly want to host his nemesis and his dilemma as to whether to continue or not being battered, beaten and messed up before the same Nigerian people whom his malaria-induced dream tells him he will become their President come 2023?

Now that an Abuja High Court has refused him the pleaded Stay/interim injunction against the complete confiscation of the recovered assets, is he now still haughty and eager to go on ahead?

If the REVOLUTIONARY infrastructural wonders of the 3R mantra are not enough to convince the Thamases of our time in Imo State, maybe, just maybe, the recovery of the Royal Palm Spring Hotel and Apartments, the former IBC premises at Orji, the former Eastern Palm University now Kingsley Mbadiwe University Okpoko, the New Government House acres of land etc etc should convince everyone that God is involved in the Hope Uzodinma dispensation. Most importantly, a new culture of leadership accountability, post-tenures, has just begun! Yes, nobody, no Governor, including the incumbent, will ever tamper with Imo patrimony again.
