Is Uche Nwosu Set to Deputize Ihedioha in 2023?

by Efizzy

The rumoured defection of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, son in-law to the former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha, have come with another twist, as there is rumour making the rounds, that part of the deal for Nwosu’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, includes deputizing Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, in the 2023 General Elections.

A popular political analyst in the state, had given hint of a planned defection from the All Progressives Congress APC, to the PDP by the former Action Alliance AA candidate, alleging that his followers had all been instructed to stop attacking the PDP, in preparation for his official declaration for the party.

Strengthening the rumour, is the fact that Nwosu, along with his father in-law, Senator Rochas Okorocha, a former Senator from Okigwe zone, Ifeanyi Araraume, as well as members of their political structure, have refused to acknowledge the Marcon Nlemigbo led faction of the APC in the state, and have refused to revalidate their membership of the party, unless Mr. Daniel Nwafor is recognised as the Imo State APC chairman.

With the revalidation exercise coming to an end, and the successful Congress, which excludes Okorocha and his group, it has become obvious that the former governor may be seeking shelter in another political party, with the PDP looking like the most viable option for him at the moment.

Okorocha had been seen romancing with the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike in recent times, while he has openly moved against the APC administration of Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Okorocha had hinted of the formation of a new political movement, which he claimed would take over the country by 2023. He did not elaborate whether he was talking about the creation of a new political party, or whether he would be joining new alliances, which could include the PDP.

A political loyalist of the former Chief of Staff, while speaking to Efizzy via a phone chat, claimed that Uche Nwosu’s defection to the PDP would mean that the entire Imo State was now in PDP, and would signal the end of the APC in the state.

With the rumours and realignments for 2023 heating up, it seems clear, that the PDP, as well as the Okorocha faction, may have finally accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court, which brought in Senator Hope Uzodinma, and probably mean that they have given up on the Philip Umeadi case, as they look towards 2023.
