Alleged Missing Reach FM OAP, OCDA Reacts

OWERRI CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

PRESS RELEASE

BY ADAUGO OKWARA
DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION OCDA
FOR;GENERAL MANAGER, OCDA

The attention of the Owerri Capital Development Authority has been drawn to the news gradually circulating on social media, blogosphere and local tabloids connecting the alleged absence of Mr. Sunny Uma, a Reach 104.9FM Igbo presenter with the Owerri Capital Development Authority a parastatal of Imo State Government.

It is therefore important to clear the air regarding the activities of Owerri Capital Development Authority and her task of restoring the Owerri Twin City Master-Plan to be associated with the absence of a staff of Reach FM and any other missing person as a matter of fact.

It is on record that the General Manager of Reach FM Mr. Frank visited the Owerri Capital Development Authority on Friday July 2, 2021 in the company of their legal representative and other staff members of Reach 104.9 FM, to plead for the unsealing of their illegal office at about 2:00pm (which was sealed by OCDA on the grounds of no building approval and blockage of three access roads of which the OCDA Authorities graciously ordered after their plea, the reopening of their premises on the premise that they will produce their building approval / allow access on the blocked roads within a stipulated time).

It is note worthy to inform the public that the normal procedure of declaring a person missing, is to report to the police within 48 hours. The Reach FM General Manager Mr. Frank made a video broadcast (yesterday July 6, 2021 at about 9:30pm more than five days later), without any evidence of a filed “missing person report” to the security agents or even on their Reach FM radio station.

This clearly shows that Mr. Frank, is either playing out a script or he has something up his sleeves. We pray this is not another attempt by unscrupulous elements to further blackmail the Owerri Capital Development Authority and her staff that are working assiduously to maintain the aesthetic value of Owerri Twin City as their already sponsored program of Friday July 2, 2021 yielded little or no result.

While we allow the appropriate authorities to further investigate on the alleged disappearance of Mr. Sunny Uma, we hereby beckon on the public to disregard any form of connection between the absence of Mr. Sunny Uma (Staff of Reach FM) from his place of work and the activities of Imo State Government and its parastatal Owerri Capital Development Authority.

It is suspected that this is a ploy by the Reach FM to divert the attention of the public, from the fact that they have consistently acted lawlessly by; closing the three access roads within their vicinity (thereby causing untold hardship to road-users and those living around the neighbourhood) and operating from an illegal building without requisite approval.

We also plead with those who have, who are and who will be in contact with Mr. Sunny to please forward their findings to the nearest police station as this would aid the security agents expedite the process of locating Mr. Sunny Uma if truly he is missing.

Our legal team has commenced the process of taking legal action to redress this defamation of character, slander and libellous publications against the Owerri Capital Development Authority and Imo State Government.
