…APC SEES DEFECTORS AS REPENTANT SINNERS!
… AGARACHA MUST COME BACK!
By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A
It’s no longer news that any PDP governor or leader that suddenly declares for the APC is assumed to be sinner. Yes, a sinner! The APC mantra of: “Join APC and your sins will be forgiven” directly implies that any PDP governor or leader that joins APC is a sinner hearkening to the plea bargain option provided by the APC as soft landing.
The last National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, was quoted to have done the political evangelism of fishers of men with the intimidatory assurances that: “If you join APC, your sins will be forgiven”!
We concluded that was his weird position when till date, he never refuted, debunked or disclaimed the statement. And, therefore, those defecting into APC despite all the indices of that party’s six years woeful failure in all ramifications, must be political sinners.
And from distilled information, the sins of the sinners are 100% economic and financial crimes in nature.
That’s why the EFCC, the APC’s agent of torture of fast-finger PDP governors, that hunt and hound unrepentant sinners that dilly-dally or refuse to join APC, is always by the corners awaiting the last order to go after the bloody sinner and traumatize him until he joins APC or joins common criminals in Kuje Prisons!
We concluded that it was a very serious matter when after seizing 48 houses from Timipreye Sylva, ex-governor of Bayelsa State, and he suddenly, swiftly joined APC, and shortly after he was handed back his 48 houses. Today, he’s a full-fledged APC Minister of the F Republic!
Watching Barr. Godswill Akpabio, the ex-governor of Akwa Ibom State, standing at the international stadium he built as a governor to declare that PDP didn’t achieve anything in the State in 16 years, was too scary and excessively appalling to us!
We were appalled because Akpabio was such a sinner at the mercy of APC that he denied the PDP that took him from nobody and made him somebody.
We became even more yawasticated when Akpabio was coerced by APC to stand in the best stadium in Nigeria, which he built as a PDP governor, to debase himself and his Party as achieving nothing all through his blessed 16 years in PDP, where he was deputy governor for eight years and governor for eight years!
Today, Akpabio is an APC Minister of the F Republic, with all manners of shameful and disgraceful banters and bickerings over his sins. Yes! As far as APC is concerned, Akpabio joined them because he’s a big sinner, whose sins have become forgiven but certainly not forgotten!
The self-confessed contractor in Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, was a member and leader of the PDP for about 20 years. Within the period he became something from nothing. He was deputy governor for eight years and governor for about six years. He became a demi-god to the people of Ebonyi State.
But one day like that, Umahi woke up and began saying strange things against the PDP that so to say picked him up at a small construction site, where he was a small contractor, surpervising a small building project.
When the summary of his blabs and babbles for his shameless and shameful defection into the terrorist APC became that “PDP has been marginalizing the Southeast geo-political zone for decades”, many people heard the voice of a forced confessor, who was compelled to abuse and insult his parents so that he might receive absolution for his established sins.
Umahi has, since his repentance of his sins and forced conscription into the APC, been making Ebonyi State ungovernable for himself, kicking the hands that moulded him, biting the fingers that fed him fat, fighting against the very people that fought for him to be somebody from nobody! In short, Umahi is a sinner. His sins may have been forgiven, but certainly not forgotten!
Though, we hear that APC is after some other sinners in PDP, the latest repented sinner is Prof. Ben Ayade, the governor of Cross River State. He is a sinner. Maybe the right thing to say is that he was a sinner, but now with his joining APC, his sins have been forgiven but certainly not forgotten.
It’s funny that when a delegation of PDP governors paid Ayade a courtesy visit penultimate week, he boastfully took them around some of his achievements. He shook their hands and hugged them, and they patted each other’s back, laughing!
Then, not up to two weeks after the visit by the PDP governors, Ayade hosted a delegation of APC governors, and after handshakes, back-patting, and laughter, Ayade declared his defection into APC, apparently betraying and sabotaging the PDP that took him from the classrooms and lecture halls into the Government House, Calabar, as governor! The rest is history!
The only justification for the defection of any PDP governor into APC is that as they say, a man shouldn’t die with his sins, and be troubled conscience for the rest of his life.
Maybe as some people have argued, repentance and obedience in joining APC, is always better than the sacrifice of spending a lifetime in Kuje Prisons!
The school of thought says if all it takes for Akpabio, Orji Uzor Kalu, Umahi, Ayade and the supposed others, from ending up in the Maximum Prisons, for their excessive looting of their state treasuries, is simple joining of APC, then so be it! Fare them well!
The truth, however, is that they are agents of shame and disgrace to the PDP family nationwide. They prove to be executhieves and thereby taint the good image of the PDP family.
Somebody had suggested placing an eternal ban on such defectors from the Party. But another body had countered the suggestion by referring to the defectors as prodigal sons, whose eventual return should always be accepted and even celebrated.
The arguments, over how to treat the PDP governors and leaders that defect from the Party, must be premised upon the notion that in the house of a great man, there are all manners of people. Some bring shame and disgrace, while some bring glory and honour to the family.
Ultimately, they’re all members of the family. We call them “agaracha” family members. And as they say in that parlance: “Agaracha must come back”!
