Just as the 17 governors in the Southern region of Nigeria in their communique released on May 12th, 2021 at Asaba boldly banned open cattle grazing, they also noted that “Development and population growth has put pressure on available land and increased the prospects of conflict between migrating herders and local populations in the South. Given this scenario, it becomes imperative to enforce the ban on open grazing in the South (including cattle movement to the South by foot).”
It is unfortunate to note that Imo State government had taking a reverse or opposing turn to establish RUGA in the state…
One may ask, why is the 3R government always taking everything for politics to please the Fulani and Northern leaders?
Fulani cow herders have continue to raise havoc and mayham on several communities in the South East, Imo not exceptional. Many villages in the State have been slaughtered, chased and wiped out just because they refused to welcome open grazing.
Imo State government should stop henceforth being obsequious and toadish to her people in order to satisfy the secret agenda of the Northerners to islamize Nigeria..
Imolites unanimously nodded to all the resolutions reached and communicated by the Southern Governors to the Federal Government of which many States have commenced full implementation to kick out Open Grazing of Cattles in their various States.
Imo State government should follow her counterparts in the implementation of Asaba Accord.
