His Excellency,
Senator Hope Uzodimma,
Executive Governor, Imo State,
Government House, Owerri.
Your Excellency,
RE: PURPOTED PETITION TITLED “SACK HON, GOODLUCK OPPIAH NOW AS YOUR SA OIL AND GAS”
Our attention has been drawn to a petition sent to your Excellency by a group of faceless and disgruntled individuals, circulated on social media, dubiously claiming to be acting on behalf of Umuofeke Agwa Autonomous Community of Imo State, and purportedly asking your Excellency to remove Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah as your Special Adviser on Oil and Gas Matters.
We, the duly authorized representatives of Umuofeke Agwa Autonomous Community, totally dissociate ourselves from this outrageous petition and condemn the unwarranted and pernicious attack on the person of Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah.
We strongly dissociate ourselves from ALL the spurious and baseless allegations contained in the irresponsible petition.
We want to make it abundantly clear that these misguided individuals DO NOT represent Umuofeke Agwa Autonomous Community and embarked on this ill-advised escapade on their own and for their own selfish purposes.
We, as a community, express our confidence in the leadership of Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah, as your duly authorized representative, in ensuring that a GMOU is negotiated between Sterling Global Oil Resources Ltd, and the 3 oil producing communities in Agwa, including ours. After many failed attempts in the past, spanning over 12 years, these negotiations are now nearing completion and Sterling Global has made commitments to begin executing a capital project in our communities in the next few months. This would not have been possible without the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah. We thank him and we thank Your Excellency for that.
We applaud Your Excellency for making it one of the priorities of your administration that oil companies operating in oil producing communities in Imo State live up to their social responsibility obligations to the communities. You could not have tapped a better point-man for the implementation of this policy than Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah. We thank you and we thank Hon, Opiah for working tirelessly to ensure this policy is fully implemented.
Sincerely,
- Barr. Steve Nwagbo
