How opposition saved Imo Deputy Governor’s job

by Efizzy

News from various reliable news outlets (including Opera News), reported on a plot to impeach the Deputy govenror of Imo State, Professor Placid Njoku.

The news sparked widespread condemnation of the Hope Uzodinma administration, with some members of the public, calling on tbe Deputy governor to honorably resign, rather than be impeached.

However, the reaction from the Imo State government, published on Vanguard Newspaper, as well as Opera News, denying the story of a plot to impeach the Deputy governor, may have saved his job.

It had started as a rumour some months ago, when Efizzy NG, reported about a secret plot to unseat the Deputy govenror. One of those fingered in the plot, called the publisher, to deny the story.

With Imo Trumpeta, one of the most reliable local tabloids in Imo State, breaking the news recently, it showed that Efizzy had been right about the plot.

But with the public denial of the plot by the State government, the plotters, if any, may have developed cold feet, following public reaction to the plot, and may have jettisoned the plot, probably till 2024.

Prof Placid Njoku, a former University Vice Chancellor, and a greenhorn in politics.
