The former Govenror of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu Zone in the Senate, Senator Rochas Okorocha has met the N70million bail bond condition, handed down by Magistrate B.U. Adikaibe, of the Imo State Magistrate Court, on 14 of his political associates and aides.
The 14 defendants, including Mr. Darlington Ibekwe, were arrested by the police, on the orders of Senator Hope Uzodinma, and charged to court, for unlawfully trespassing into a property supposedly sealed by the State Govenrment.
Okorocha had argued, that he nor his wife, were not formally communicated of the seizure of his wife’s property, and even the police commissioner and the director of the DSS, were not aware of what the state government did.
Ibekwe and the 13 other defendants, were arraigned at the magistrate court on Monday, 22nd day of February 2021, and a bail of N5million each, was handed down to each of them, totalling N70million.
Okorocha yesterday met the bail conditions, which included a surety by a traditional ruler, and all the defendants were released from custody.
Ibekwe was received by Senator Rochas Okorocha, and his son-in-law Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, at Okorocha’s Spibat Estate.
Ibekwe who collapsed in court, raising suspicion that he must have been abused, for calling out Senator Hope Uzodinma, labelling him an Otokoto man, amongst others, has promised, in a post on his Facebook wall, to relive his experience in detention.
