The govenror of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, have revealed what happened to the bailout funds, received by the administration of former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
While addressing the national leaders of the National Union of Pensioners NUP, who visited the Imo State governor at the Government House Owerri, Uzodinma explained why there have been some delay in clearing the pension arrears in the state, which he promised to offset when he became govenror.
Speaking, Uzodinma stated that, “the bailout funds were transferred to Bureau de Change, dollars sold to the people, most of the monies we can’t see what it was used for.”
Senator Hope Uzodinma however assured the members of the Union, that with or without the bailout funds, the pensioners were entitled to the money, and it was the responsibility of government to pay.
He called on the pensioners to help government to speak out when they see things going bad. He further revealed that Okorocha and his people, have instituted over 120 court cases against his administration, to stop the recovery process.
Efizzy recalls that the publisher of WatchDog Newspaper, Comrade Precious Nwadike, had blown the whistle on the disappearance of the bailout funds.
Uche Nwosu, son inlaw of the former governor, who Nwadike had revealed the money was stolen in his possession, dragged Nwadike to court, but later dropped the suit, when they could not disprove Nwadike’s claims, or give proper account of how the money was spent.
